Thames Water purchases first Orege solution to help reduce carbon emissions and improve its environmental footprint

After successful trials in March 2021 and 4 months rental at the Harpenden wastewater treatment plant, Thames Water purchased a first Orege solution for sludge treatment.

Thames Water is the UK’s largest water utility, providing drinking water to nearly ten million consumers and wastewater treatment to fifteen million people in London and the Thames Valley .

Thames Water is globally recognized for its long-standing commitment to being more sustainable in all areas of business and for being ready to undertake pioneering and innovative projects and adopt new technologies. In April 2019, the organization pledged to achieve zero net carbon emissions by 2030, underscoring its commitment to mitigate climate change. In 2020, Thames Water achieved its best Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark for Infrastructure score, maintaining its five-star status and placing it in the top 10% of participating global infrastructure companies.

The adoption of Orege technology by an undisputed industry leader allows Orege not only to take a new step in its business development in the UK, but also to gain new recognition for its technology globally.

The Orege solution, which will be implemented in October, contributes around € 260,000 to 2021 revenue.

In addition to the implementation at Harpenden, Thames Water identified a number of sites where Orege solutions could be implemented, including the use of mobile units at sites where no sludge thickening system is available. exist.

Lee Jeffrey, Bioresource Production Planning Manager for Thames Water commented :

“The work at Harpenden has clearly demonstrated the benefits of Orege’s thickening technology for Thames Water, allowing us to reduce tanker volumes by up to 70% for the benefit of local residents and providing a sustainable reduction in our operational carbon footprint as we strive to achieve net zero by 2030. The new Orege equipment is immediately available for use as a plug-and-play package and we are excited about the strategic implementation of the solutions Orege in other areas of Thames Water.

Pascal Gendrot, CEO of Orège, commented :

“The adoption of our technology by world-renowned Thames Water is further proof of its effectiveness and an exciting step for our UK team. I am convinced that this purchase of a first solution will be a key turning point for the development of Orège in the United Kingdom. We are very excited to explore all the strategic avenues to implement our solutions in the Thames Water group. “
