Motorhomes could be charged up to £ 15 per day to park at Wirral beauty spots in new council plans

People parking in campervans at Wirral’s beauty spots could be charged up to £ 15 a day under new measures to be discussed by Wirral Council next week.
The proposal is part of a package on the table at a meeting of the Environment, Climate Emergencies and Transport Committee at Wirral Council on Monday to generate the £ 1million in additional parking revenue agreed at a previous budget council meeting.
In a report produced ahead of the meeting, which lists fare increases, a new standardized district-wide fare system, as well as the introduction of new paid on- and off-street parking in cities and coastal areas of the district, an idea of ââcharging for those who have motorhomes is also on the table.
The report states: âMembers are also recommended to consider the introduction of a new daily parking rate for motorhomes, where applicable in certain car parks.
âA motorhome is usually a motor vehicle equipped with some of the amenities of the house, for example a stove, refrigerator, toilet, sleeping facilities, etc.
“These types of vehicles can often take up more than one standard parking space, so there is a charge of up to £ 15 per day for motorhome parking.

âThe Commune’s sales team is developing options for overnight parking of motorhomes and leisure vehicles on a dedicated commercial site with facilities.
“This is the subject of separate ongoing discussions with members of the Tourism, Communities, Culture and Recreation committee.”
Earlier this week, ECHO reported on the details of the council’s parking options report, which drew strong reactions from local residents, as well as responses from councilors from the various political parties in the district. .
Some comments on social media suggest that the RV parking fee would be a positive step forward.
One person said the number of motorhomes parked at seaside resorts in the district was an issue affecting other visitors as well as residents, saying: âIt has become chaos. On sunny days, visitors leave their cars on sidewalks and roundabouts. With the amount of motorhomes parked on King’s Parade on a semi-permanent basis, car trippers cannot find a place to park. “
Another added: “They should put in facilities for vans and charge a small fee for overnight parking.”
