JAMMU: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), the country’s largest automaker, would set up two oxygen production plants in the twin capitals of Jammu and Kashmir under its corporate social responsibility (CSR). The chairman of the Vehicleades group of companies, Devender Singh Rana, conveyed the MSIL decision to Lt. Gov. Manoj Sinha here on Wednesday evening.
“MSIL has proposed to set up a factory each at Jammu and Srinagar Medical Colleges to strengthen the health infrastructure of UT’s two leading health facilities,” the company said in a statement.
He said the two PSA oxygen production plants for J&K are expected to reach UT by the first week of June and will likely cost Rs 1.30 crore, which will be covered by CSR by MSIL.
Rana, provincial president of the National Conference and former Member of Parliament, had previously called on MSIL to support health efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic in J&K as a gesture of goodwill.
Thanking MSIL for the gesture, the lieutenant governor ordered the health and medical education department to coordinate with the company for the early installation of the plants.
