Is this mountain bike yours? A stolen hiding place found in Genoa
Police said they found a pickup truck, an ATV, long guns and drugs at a property in the city of Genoa, Cayuga County.
After being called to 11439 State Route 90 in the Locke area of Genoa to a trespassing report at approximately 7:11 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, New York State Police said they saw two men in a van 2015 Chevrolet at the scene. The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Tyler W. Hulslander. The passenger has been identified as Joshua M. Lites, whose age has not been released at this time.
Troopers say there was a television in the bed of the truck and a trailer on the property with another ATV loaded on it.
The NYSP says both suspects have been taken into custody. Through their investigation, they determined that the truck was, according to police, stolen from a landscaping company in Syracuse. The vehicle was originally stolen on January 12, 2022 and had a fleet GPS which was retired in Georgetown, New York. Inside the truck were “several long guns” as well as 2.6 grams of methamphetamine.
The owner of the trailer on the property has been located and questioned. Through this interview, they learned that there had been a burglary in the town of Lansing.
State police have yet to identify the owner of the ATV pictured below and are asking for the public’s assistance.
Anyone with information about these cases, those arrested, the ATV photographed, or additional knowledge that may be helpful to the investigation is asked to call Auburn State Police at: (315) 253.3103.
Joshua M. Lites has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and has been issued a responsible court appearance ticket at a later date.
Tyler W. Hulslander faces the following charges:
- Grand Larceny in the 3rd Diploma
- Grand Larceny in the 4and Diploma
- Criminal possession of property stolen from 3rd Diploma
- Criminal possession of property stolen from 4and Diploma
New York State Police in Auburn said they were assisted by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and the NYSP in Ithaca.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
